Ciena makes your social / entertainment / business existence REAL.Title: Blue Planet Software Engineer IDE TesterWhat will you be doing in your role at Ciena We are looking for stellar software engineers to work on the team building the Blue Planet Orchestration platform services and software development kit (SDK). You will:- Develop test strategies to fully exercise the user interface functionality built for Blue Planet IDE- Test the optimizations in the UI for usability, maximum performance and scalability- Work closely with the Blue Planet front-end and backend developers (IDE & its consumers from different products), solution teams, partners and customers to support their use of the platform to deliver complete solutions to customers- Participate as in-sprint tester in all phases of the development cycle plan, design, implement, review, test, deploy, document, and train & successfully validate the BP IDE integration- Analyze test results and prepare test reports- Investigate software defects and highlight critical issues that can have potential customer impact and consult with software development engineers in finding resolution or to address problems related to specifications and/or test plans/procedures- Automate all manually devised and executed test cases using automation best practices, including the maintenance of these test cases moving forward- Share your vast experience while mentoring more junior members & new joiners of the IDE team from time to timeAreas of impact:You will be working as a Blue Planet software test development engineer validating the features in IDE - Integrated Development Environment running on Blue Planet orchestration platform that service providers use to build and manage service templates. You will be engaged with the developers leveraging design thinking principles to craft a visual IDE (UX, UI driven approach), balancing the user experience and functionality for simplifying the Service Templates development.Blue Planet is based on a modern software architecture that leverages open-source technologies, model-driven templates and container-based micro-services. Blue Planet facilitates the evolution toward more efficient, modernized network operations and software-defined programmability to accelerate the delivery of on-demand services, reduce costs, and enable a path to increased network autonomy.Required experience and skills:- Bachelor s / masters in computer science or equivalent experience in the field of engineering- Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, algorithms & OOP/design patterns- Strong experience on testing role (> 3 to 4 years) preferably on UI apps built with the frameworks such as Ember / Angular / React / Vue.js using JavaScript or TypeScript language constructs- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills associated with enterprise and carrier software solutions in general.- Excellent written (documentation) and interpersonal communication skills (English)- Motivation to work on UI layers within Telecom and Network Orchestration domain- Interest and ability to quickly learn and ramp-up on new tools, languages and frameworks related to IDE- Ability to write understandable, reliable test cases with minimum supervision which can be automated in near future- Knowledge and/or work experience with any of these languages: Python, Java, JavaScripting and/or REST API and associated tools is highly desirable.Desirable knowledge or experience in (a plus not mandatory):- Distributed, highly available systems running at large scale- Experience testing user-interface applications built on RESTful webservices using Node.js runtime- Cloud environments (e.g., Docker, AWS, Kubernetes etc.,)- Basic understanding of TOSCA Modelling- Experience with IDEs & it s powerful capabilities for building and maintaining software (e.g VS code, WebStorm or any other open source cloud-based IDEs)*LI-CNAbout CienaCiena is a network strategy and technology company with a passion to provide an experience, to you and our customers that is as rewarding as the outcome.
