Job Responsibilities The Advanced Engineering team of the Appliance and Software Defined Storage group is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to focus on technology investigation, architecture and solution prototyping, working with multiple technology and business teams to advance new products and solution. You will be responsible for:
• Researching the technological and business needs behind a new approach, solution, or a product
• Participate and lead the corresponding design efforts
• Design and develop the necessary prototypes
• Collaborate with the architecture team to receive directions and provide feedback
• Collaborate with the product execution teams to educate and evangelize the proposed solutions, curate the implementation, and provide expert support for the live product as necessary
• Design and develop specific solutions that may span several products and teams
• Work with internal and external customers, sales and marketing engineers to understand the customer environments and specific needs
• Help shape and execute the technical portfolio and roadmap to develop next generation features; integrate corporate- and product-level architecture principles and goals into the teams project work through designs, implementation strategies, and project sequencing.
• Productively and collaboratively inject yourself into the teams Agile Scrum process and support it as needed
• Evangelize Veritas technologies and solutions internally
• Collaborate efficiently with other team in various geographies
• Drive a culture of quality, technical curiosity, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision making in the organization
• Solve complex problems either individually or collaboratively
Essential Qualifications :
• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent , MS preferred
• 1 0 years of Software Engineering experience , most of it full-stack
• Curr ent expertise in Python and/or Java , RESTful APIs, queues/buses
• Deep understanding of OOD and SOA, design patterns
• Deep experience in data processing , ETL, SQL and NoSQL
• Working knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetis)
• Working knowledge of cloud architectures (AWS and/or Azure preferred)
• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability and desire to work within a high-performing team and challenge yourself and the team to improve further
• Experience and desire mentoring more junior team members and sharing the tech knowledge
• Se nse of ownership , initiative, self-drive
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with Veritas or other data protection or scalability appliances
• Working knowledge of storage hardware and firmware technologies
