  • Primary responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the BMC internal processes that deliver SMP/E software to BMC s z/OS customers. This includes daily validation of appropriate job completions, notifications to product teams on status of maintenance, consulting advice on SMP/E issues and validation of all PTF s prior to general distribution.
  • Provides technical support for product teams using the internally developed maintenance delivery tools.
  • Implement daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly maintenance to internal testbeds to avoid SMP/E conflicts.
  • Perform problem analysis and work with product teams to resolve problems on all supported systems.
  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing basic issues. Error message resolution and problem analysis for abends required.
  • Provide internal product teams and BMC customer assistance in resolving SMP/E problems as needed.
  • Use creativity to employ automation and innovative solutions.
  • Participate in BMC beta/early ship/early support programs.
  • Support BMC disaster recovery/business continuity programs as directed.
  • Validate, document and escalate design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs.
EXPERIENCE5 to 10 years of IBM zSeries (mainframe) System Programming expertise. Must have experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting mainframe issues. Familiarity with IBM system utilities and JCL is needed.Desired Skills/qualifications:
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution.
  • Ability to meet set deadlines for daily/weekly/monthly PTF management processes.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, CICS, DB2, MQ, IMS as well as TSO, CLIST, REXX and ISPF. JES2/JES3, USS and file transfer products experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with software installation, configuration and maintenance processes.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with IBM products and utilities; prefer strong experience with BMC products.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in customer-support/customer service situations.
  • Ability to remain calm, cordial, and effective during the resolution of time critical system interruptions/difficulties/failures.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with peers and product teams.
  • Be proactive and take initiative to work independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
