We have surpassed 1,000+ governments (and growing fast) using our products in our mission to power more effective and accountable government.OpenGov is a 2021 Top Workplaces USA award winner API Automation Test Engineer - Platform The OpenGov engineering team is a group of talented engineers passionate about delivering a rich set of applications with a high bar on quality that spans a broad spectrum of testing: functional, system, cross-platform, scale, performance, security, availability, and everything in between. Quality engineering is a cross-functional and distributed group of SDETs in OpenGov s R&D organization . SDETs work hand-in-hand with developers in fast-moving autonomous teams. A dedicated test architect is on staff to support the broader team on best practices, processes, frameworks, tools, and automation to improve the overall quality of OpenGov applications and increase velocity and confidence in software delivery. This role is specifically for a quality engineer focusing on test automation in OpenGov sShared Platform which handles ingesting, storing, and providing APIs for our customers data across our product suites. Responsibilities: Create testing artifacts such as test plans, test cases, test reports, and testsReview product requirement documents in close collaboration with product managers and tech leads to create and document test plans and test cases for featuresReview test plan and test case documents as needed with key stakeholdersWork hand-in-hand with the developers and product manager as a manual tester for new features under developmentPerform manual and exploratory testing as a prerequisite for test automation, for time-sensitive delivery scenarios and for unscheduled hotfix releasesDevelop automated tests for regression and feature testingPerform pre-release automated regression testing for scheduled feature releasesUplevel overall QA team maturity by contributing to cross-functional efforts such as for nightly tests, monitoring test failures, and improving the frameworks that run the testsWork with Jenkins to schedule tests, analyze test results and share metrics and feedback with key stakeholders. Skills: Has programming, debugging, and profiling skills in one or more of Java, Scala, Groovy, Python or any object oriented programming languageHas knowledge of testing tools like TestNG, Junit, Cucumber, etcExperience in API testing and good understanding of RESTful web services and microservice architectureHas knowledge of relational Databases and proficient in SQL queries for data validationBasic understanding of CI/CD release processes and how they integrate with quality cyclesExperience working with Jenkins to build CI pipelinesExperience with Load/Performance testing with JMeter/Gatling is a big plusExperience working in agile product teams (Scrum and Kanban)Interest in software system internals, e.g. how things workHas a strong orientation towards delivering results incrementallyExperience improving quality through a combination of tests, dependency testing, and monitoringDomain expertise with quality engineering for SaaS Platform teams is a plusHas strong verbal and written communication skillsSelf-starter who can collaborate effectively with the members of the product development team (product managers, architects, developers, etc.) and with cross-functional QA team members.Qualifications:Experience: Minimum 5 years industry experience with 2 years as a SDET or a test automation engineer, preferably in SaaS companiesEducation: BS in Computer Science or equivalentWhat makes OpenGov unique Leadership: CEO Zac Bookman (MPA from Harvard and JD from Yale) is truly a mission-driven CEO.
