Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Factory Design Responsibilities:

    • Lead Nexus DCS projects in engineering phase, ~ 70% of logic to be done at factory.
    • Support improvement of processes and tools in DCS controls to help increase quality and reduce cycle time on DCS projects.
    • Share feedback and lessons learned from internal and external customers. Incorporate into design engineering and ensure continuous improvement.
    • Work with supporting functions to advocate Nexus controls products & opportunities to customers
    • Oversee Factory Acceptance Tests that ensure accurate and demonstrated logic design

    Field Design Responsibilities:

    • Travel to customer site to complete remaining DCS project engineering phase, remaining ~30% of logic
    • Support the root cause analysis/investigation activities for product technical issues.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills to customer & sub - contracted personnel
    • Strong interpersonal & conflict resolution skills .
    • Prepare schedule for site activities with detailed plan to achieve the required timelines.
    • Support Site Kick - off Meeting with Project Management Team

    Install & Commissioning Responsibilities:

    • Oversee site activities of tear - down and install of new DCS controls equipment
    • Oversee controls equipment loop - checks, and check - out activities prior to commissioning
    • Lead commission and start - up of the DCS controls equipment, ensuring seamless site commissioning.
    • Support as needed, unplanned/forced outages to satisfy urgent customer needs.
    • Around 50% of the travel may be required

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in I&C, Electrical engineering from an accredited university or college.
    • Must be willing to work off hours and weekends to support emergency site issue resolution.
    • Must be willing to travel 50% of time

    Desired Characteristics

    • 3 - 5 years experience with Controls logic design & equipment
    • Proven experience with DCS platforms OC4000, ABB, Yokogawa, or Emerson
    • Experience in developing and debugging functional block based and / or ladder - logic and programming with HMI interfaces
    • Strong customer service mind - set.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem - solving ability and adept at communicating with several levels of the organization.
    • Experience in interfacing with all levels of internal and external customers.
    • Power plant, refinery, or other related experience
    • Good oral and written communication skills
