Job Description

  • 8 + years experience in Analyse designs of legacy and in-development databases for performance problems and suggest design improvements accordingly.
  • Build a library of knowledge on the databases in use in all applications that are in scope for performance testing and engineering.
  • Perform query execution analysis and provide fixes for poorly performing queries on the application critical path.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams including architects, developers, and DBAs on high-performance, efficient, and scalable database design, jobs, and queries.
  • Participate in performance testing of applications and assist with analyzing operational database issues encountered during testing.
  • Provide guidance on data strategy and mechanisms for loading data in the test environments as per the test requirements.
we are looking for
  • Certified Professional Database 11g
  • At least 5 years experience as a DBA with extensive experience of tuning database
  • At least 5 years previous experience developing PL/SQL and SQL
  • Specific knowledge of Oracle internals including the ability to analyse raw trace files from SQL extended session trace
  • Advanced SQL design authoring
  • Database design, 3NF and ERD experience
  • Oracle OCI knowledge
  • Good solid Linux shell scripting
  • Experience of load simulation tools
  • Should be able to read and interpret raw SQL trace files
  • Understand the impact of parallelism on the database
  • Understand how CBO chooses its path & how histograms and bind variable peeking can influence query execution.
  • Understand the difference between an execution plan which utilises nested loops in favour or hash joins
  • Advanced SQL experience and expertise tuning an individual SQL statements from information gained from wait event analysis in trace.
  • Excellent Written and Oral Skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Strong Commitment and availability is a must in this role.
