Job Description

Greenfields Management And Placement Consultant Pvt. Ltd. ,Pune.Required For European Multinational Company For A Good Opportunity In And Around Pune.Job Title: Engineer-Metallurgist.Position Type: Permanent.Summary:The person leads, direct and conduct metallurgical and material engineering activities working with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing teams as well as material suppliers and customers to develop new material grades and improve existing ones as a metallurgist for the Drives business of India.Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, direct and conduct all aspects of material testing and use statistical analysis to evaluate and analyse test data
  • Lead, direct and conduct metallurgical and material engineering activities working with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing teams as well as material suppliers and customers to develop new material grades and improve existing ones
  • Creation of reports including conclusions based on conducted analysis and recommendation for actions
  • Execute and analyse metallurgical testing activities and results
  • Perform metallographic analysis using digital or optical microscopy.
  • Train quality inspectors on metallurgical lab activities to assist in cutting, mounting, and polishing samples.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis investigations on customer complaints/claims and internal quality issues including corrective and preventive action
  • Prepare detailed technical reports on completed failure analysis investigations.
  • Assist on materials analysis process for production parts to ensure conformity to specifications (grain size and flow, abusive machining, hardness, chemistry, etc.) when needed.
  • Assist with development of new grades and processes to meet customer requirements;
  • Assist with problem solving of metallurgical topics throughout the facilities
  • Analyse and determine root cause(s) of internal non-conformances and mechanical test failures;
  • Investigate customer claims and provide oral/written summation of findings; Customer interface involving metallurgical items
  • Provide technical solutions to internal and external customers by understanding manufacturing and product capability.
Qualification and Education Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or similar).
  • Bsc (Metallurgy)
  • Bsc (Chemistry)
Experience:
  • Exposure to modern manufacturing techniques and processes, especially related to Drives business.
  • Experience 4-6 years
  • Hands on experience of lab testing.
Preferred Skills / Special Skills:Technical Skills: Knowledge of Materials Sample preparation, Etching and evaluation of metallographic specimens of bar stock, blade forging and aircraft parts (metallic and non-metallic materials); knowledge of Preparation techniques, and examination of metallurgical specimensReasoning AbilitiesAnalytical Skills:Problem Solving TechniquesOrganizational SkillsCustomer ServiceWork EthicsComputer SkillsKnowledge of metallurgical Engineering.Hot Rolling,Cold WorkingSpecific Equipment Used:
  • Microscopes & Metallography Equipment
  • Optical, XRF and ICP spectrometers plus hardness and tensile testing equipment
