To be a geek at Sokrati you need to know how to build scalable and high-performance systems. Nothing at Sokrati is small. We start with a proof of concept that demands a traffic rate of 10M ! To achieve any of this you need to understand Distributed Systems, Distributed Caching, High-scale Databases. And we possess the skills to create software that makes this entire heterogeneous system function together even if it runs on 100 boxes. A system that is so widely used cannot sustain any downtime and hence it uses elegant high-availability techniques to survive an outage. Not many startups can say been there, done that !

We are looking for a Web Application Lead Role responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users, as well as translating the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce the visual elements of the application. You will also design the overall architecture of the web application and evolve it to ensure maximum performance and stability. As a Team Lead, you will work with engineers, designers, product managers, engineering managers, architects, customers to develop and deliver the highest quality products into the market. You will lead an engineering team, shaping it for the success in terms of product and technical excellence.

• Design of the overall architecture of the web application
• Implementation of a robust set of services and APIs to power the web application
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
• Implementation of security and data protection
• Translation of UI/UX wireframes to visual elements
• Integration of the front-end and back-end aspects of the web application
• Set goals for your team and team members
• Inspire and motivate your team
• Identify your stakeholders and communicate with them regularly and proactively
• Maximise team happiness and productivity
• Establish proper feedback loops in your team and give your team members immediate feedback if necessary
• Participate in regular performance reviews
• Facilitate technical discussions
• Resolve technical conflicts
• Ensure the overall output quality of the team
• Mentor team members
• Bring up difficult and/or systemic challenges and impediments to the attention of your manager
• As a Team Lead you are first and foremost a leader, not a developer. However, you stay up to date with programming related topics and make sure that you get your hands dirty on a regular basis. You work shoulder-to-shoulder with your team

Youd fit right in if you have:

• Education level: BE/BTech/ME/Mtech Computer Science/IT.
• Experience Level: 5-8 Yrs of Experience with 2 Yrs experience leading teams.
• Proficient knowledge of a back-end programming language should have the knowledge of one or more: PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET, NodeJS (JavaScript) etc
• Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms (such as mobile vs, desktop), and optimizing output to match the specific platform
• Good understanding of server-side templating languages such as Jade, EJS, Jinja, etc.
• Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors such as Stylus, Less, Sass etc.
• Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Data migration, transformation, and scripting
• Management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Ability to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Good understanding of and should have knowledge of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as AngularJS, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, etc.
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery or other frameworks such as Zepto, MooTools, etc .
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, ability to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as as Gimp or Photoshop is a plus.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools e.g. Git, Mercurial or SVN
• Familiarity with development aiding tools such as Bower, Bundler, Rake, Gulp, etc.
