Job Description

Hardware Reliability ManagerLocation: New Taipei, Banqiao District, New Taipei City, TaiwanGoogle welcomes people with disabilities.Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Hardware Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12 years of experience in multiple hardware technology domains (e.g., camera display, batteries, etc.), applying Design for Reliability techniques, and working on multiple consumer electronics products.
  • 10 years of experience managing a team across multiple technical disciplines.
  • 6 years of experience in an Engineering leadership role.
  • Experience with statistical analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo Analysis, DoE, SPC).
Preferred qualifications:
  • Masters degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers around the world on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.
  • Experience in applying design for reliability techniques (e.g., FTA, DFMEA) and reliability modeling techniques (e.g., Reliability Block Diagram, Weibull, Reliability Growth Models), as well as with failure analysis techniques for electrical, mechanical, or optical components.
  • Experience shipping consumer products as a reliability lead role.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to summarize and communicate issues to executives.
  • Excellent communication, project management, planning and organizational skills.
About the jobAs a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products.   • Provide technical leadership to the hardware reliability engineering team and plan the team through the product life-cycle.
  • Collaborate with design, tech engineering, and operation teams to execute reliability testing across New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI), and sustaining phases, and work with cross-functional teams to translate reliability goals into appropriate testable metrics.
  • Lead on statistical data analysis, Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) testing and modeling, and risk assessment.
  • Develop performance metrics and lead management reviews to review progress against those metrics, lead reliability test planning, methodology, and execution for all aspects of the product.
  • Set expectations with individuals based on their level and role, meet regularly to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
