Job Description

: Motion Sensor Hardware Engineer, Consumer HardwareLocation: New Taipei, Banqiao District, New Taipei City, TaiwanExperience Level: MidGoogle welcomes people with disabilities.Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in sensor testing, calibration, and validation, including automated data ingestion, processing, analysis, and issue identification.
  • Experience in sensor technology (inertial, magnetic, optical or environmental sensors), physics, applications, and system integration design and considerations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in motion sensor hardware including Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) (accelerometer/gyroscope), magnetic sensors, and pressure sensors.
  • 5 years of experience with sensor testing, calibration processes, system-level validation, and failure analysis.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python/MATLAB) and software development languages (e.g., C/C ).
  • Knowledge of sensor technology, physics, applications, and system integration challenges in mass production quantities.
  • Familiarity with high volume consumer product development and manufacturing test and qualification.

  • Develop sensor system integration design strategy considering electrical, mechanical, and thermal constraints. Review sensor schematic, board layout and mechanical designs for wearable and phone products maintaining best practices for sensors.
  • Design and execute plans to bring-up, debug, calibrate, and validate sensor design in systems to achieve functional and performance goals at the product/UX level.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive correction actions to resolve sensor related engineering challenges and issues.
  • Support internal, cross-functional, or external collaborations during sensor manufacturing, factory testing/calibration, validation, execution, and Failure Analysis and Corrective Action.
  • Document and report sensor hardware design and performance results, maintain hardware engineering specification and contribute to cross-functional communication.
