Job Description

Position Title: Manager/Sr. ManagerLevel: Middle ManagementReporting To: AVP-Technology TransferThe Lead Scale-up & Basic Engineering is responsible for driving feasibility studies, scale up studies to ensure smooth transfer of products from lab scale to commercial scale. The role will also be responsible for planning and resource allocation for accommodating various new molecules in existing set-up and implementation of new molecule production with a close co-ordination between Production & Project teams.Strategic ResponsibilitiesConduct feasibility studies, scale up studies and technology transfer leading to a successful process handover at commercial scaleEnsure execution of projects and Engineering Optimization activitiesMaintain awareness of industry and technology trends to ensure that PI is current in development efforts to supply new and innovative offeringsImplement new systems & processes to enhance work efficiencyDrive demo-commissioning post scale-up validation in KL/PP, to ensure successful transfer to commercial scaleOperational ResponsibilitiesResponsible for successfully driving key operational & financial activities like:Conduct feasibility analysis for new enquiry proposalsProvide support to operations of Pilot Plant to verify the processes on pilot scale and development of data required for design of commercial scale plantsDevelop and update process design manuals and procuring design softwareProvide support to Process Technology in developing any special equipment needed in lab workDrive the development of the Basic Engineering Package (BEP)Provide process engineering support to the Production departmentDetermine the objectives for scale up trialsEnsure quality, yield and productivity before transferring the process to productionConduct analysis of different parameters for process improvementsEnsure timely release of SOP and other documents for new productsValidate system documents like CAPA, RMC and Waste normsEnsure smooth hand over of process to operations teamDevelop KPIs to measure the performance of scale up Team to ensure high productivity among subordinatesEnsure desired quality and productivity of new molecules as per business planMaintain scale up budgets and ensure adherence to the budgetEnsure the desire quality and productivity of new molecules as per business planFinancial ResponsibilitiesEnsure achievement of cost saving initiatives to achieve targeted savings in time framePeople ResponsibilitiesRecommend initiatives for building requisite skills & competencies through focused professional development and capability building initiatives for the Scale-up & Basic Engineering teamReview workforce capacity gaps within the Scale-up & Basic Engineering team and ensure timely recruitment in alignment with Corporate HR policiesActively sponsor, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team, the performance management process of the teamRecognize & reward excellent performers & affirm key contributions of employees toward the achievement of goals & objectives of the teamInspire & motivate employees through demonstrated commitment to PI s values, vision & mission and exemplifying effective leadership, initiative and persistence needed to accomplish goals and objectivesEducation QualificationB.Tech / M.Tech Chemical Engineering from Institutes of repute like IIT/NITWork Experience12-15 years of Industrial experience10-12 years of Scale-up experienceIndustry to be Hired fromAgro-Pharmaceutical-Fine-ChemicalsFunctional CompetenciesRelevant experience and technical knowledge as per the role requirementKnowledge of Process Design, Scale up and commissioning of commercial plantKnowledge on process trouble & capacity debottleneckingInnovative skill for process improvement, productivity enhancement and cost reductionStrong experience of managing Technology Transfer operationsInteraction Complexity and Team WorkInteractionFrequencyPurpose of InteractionInternal:Head Scale up & project executionAs required for the businessDiscuss the developments in scale up TeamExternal:External AgenciesAs required for the businessGain market insights on recent Technology Transfer trends,
