Job Description

The post holder is required to manage highly complex, large scale programmes covering Transition, Transformation and Mobilisation. He/She will drive professional project management standards within the team in accordance with the mandated project management methodology, including stage gates, approvals, and rigorous governance processes. The result will be that all elements of the transformation programme are delivered within budget and on time and deliver the anticipated business results. The postholder will take a transformational approach rather than a simple lift and shift approach to transitions, ensuring that both client (CFU / CU) and GBS are aligned at all stages of the transition journey. The result will be valuable projects, achieved in budget and on time. The postholder will interact with current and potential customers to develop the reputation of the transition and ensure that the team members are fully and productively occupied.ResponsibilitiesProjects related accountabilitiesPreparing, maintaining & communicating dashboards to many BT/GBS stakeholders as project demands.Prepares and regularly maintain project plans based on work packages which are agreed with suppliers (internal and external). Holds regular calls and meetings to enable issue resolution, project change control and status monitoring in terms of delivery to agreed timescales and budgets. Ensures requisite attendance at meetings and log headline minutes, RACI and maintain action log to progress as appropriate.Holds regular squad meetings to assess progress in projects managed. Identify/escalate key risks and issues, invoking senior project stakeholders support to resolve the issues.Develop co-operative working relationships across all BT functions, specifically at stakeholder level to maximize project delivery efficiency through effective use of all available resources.Provides management cover/support when necessary for peers in the Projects, Transition Management and Solutions teamsTransition related accountabilitiesProvides transition related input to the development of solutions prior to sign off of the detailed business case for each client and signs off the transition resourcing and planSupports the development of a rigorous and comprehensive transition method, based on a holistic transformational approach incorporating process standardisation and convergenceSupports the development of templates and specimen documents to facilitate adoption of the transition methodSupports the development of standards for all aspects of transition which vary according to the content of the workAdopts the method and standards through undertaking training and self-paced learning and acts as a coach for other team membersEngages with Business Relationship Managers and Customer Service Managers to build a forward order book of committed work for the teamDevelops and agrees budgets for the execution of transition projectsManages the deployment of resources onto projectsLeads the execution of transition projects personally, or manages the execution of projects where the execution is delegatedEnsures that the change management of their team s transition projects is given proper considerationReviews and QAs deliverables produced during the transitions by their teamCoaches the transition team to help them develop to their full potentialCoaches and develops the team through regular dialogue and performs the mandated regular HR tasks required of a line managerProvides management cover when necessary for peers in the Project Management and Solutions teams.Change Agent means that you identify, create and lead smooth business changes. It also means that you break down silos, and work brilliantly with partners both within and outside of the organization to deliver business results.Inspiring Communicator- means that you deliver compelling messages to my audience that persuade, inspire and engageskills & experienceProjects related skills requiredProven experience in project management methodologies i.e. Initiation, Planning, Governance, Squad motivation, clear delegation using delegation techniques, Closure etc.Proficient in critical/senior stakeholder management with hands on experience on stakeholder mapping & maintaining communication plans for multiple stakeholders in large scale complex projects with significant technical aspects.Proficient in assessing the project critical risks, maintain registers, prioritization of risks and developing plan based upon risk mitigation techniques in line with project demands.Ability to integrate information from multiple sources in order to anticipate issues.Demonstrate confidence to ensure project critical issues are timely actioned/resolved, however unpalatable, are brought to the attention of senior management through the escalation process to save project from jeopardy.Experience on handling large migration projects where platforms are migrating or upgrading to new platforms will be an added advantage for this role. Candidate should demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills on English language. Interpersonal communication skills along influencing skills to build confidence with senior stakeholders and wider project squad.Positive attitude, handling multiple projects, collaboration with team members, self-motivation, time management, ability to deliver assigned projects within stringent timelines & pressure are key attributes to this role. Excellent skills to get aligned with organizational targets, adaptive towards organization changes, attention to details & practice self-reliance with awareness of when to seek support from line management.Transition related skills:Understands the essentials of service delivery and is able to articulate the role of GBS in meeting their business objectivesHas the confidence to ensure that the critical issues, however unpalatable, are brought to the attention of senior management through the escalation processStrong grasp of process optimisation, including the importance of standardisation and the role of technology enablement.Domain knowledge would be an advantage but not essentialKnowledge of change management issues and techniques, including stakeholder management, change impact assessment, change planning etcAbility to keep the sub team productively busy by maintaining a pipeline of upcoming projects or valuable non-productive activities Demonstrated ability to use structured project management methodsCombines self-reliance with the awareness of when to seek support from line managementWorks collaboratively in a matrixed environment.Minimum 5 years of experience in large scale complex projects and programs, in which he/she has taken on full range of project management tasks and responsibilitiesAlready holds certification for a recognized project management qualification (for example Prince2, PMP, MSP). Added certification on Agile methodology can provide edge over other candidates.Demonstrated ability on project management tools i.e MSP, JIRA & MS Office suit i.e. Excel, PowerPoint is must.Familiarity with BT products, services and operating model. Detailed understanding and experience with related business processes is an advantageExperience of developing of business cases to support transition projects, preferably including transformational elements and standardisationDemonstrated ability to create and articulate a vision for the overall solution being transitioned.Strong track record in the project management of transition and transformation projects, including management of issues, the ability to respond proactively to changing business circumstances.A minimum of 5 years experience of all of the above, which is likely to have been acquired in one of two wayso Transition practitioner in a professional service organisationo Transition practitioner in the global services organisation of a major multinational organisation,
