Job Description

Expedia System Engineer IAre you an engineer with a passion for Observability and monitoring We are looking for an upbeat, collaborative, and creative individual who is excited about the opportunity to improve monitoring for the worlds largest travel company via innovative technologies! The Observability team delivers logging, metrics, and tracing technologies to Expedia Group and its portfolio of Brands. You ll join our team of engineers and developers from around the world as we solve some of the largest e-commerce customer experience challenges in the Fortune 500 arena.   • Drive platform stability by identifying areas where existing capabilities and processes require change, and where new ones need to be developed.
  • Partner with internal customers to solve operational challenges and drive progress against broader business strategies.
  • Create functional and operational system requirements/specifications.
  • Collaborates with team members to co-develop and solve problems, and seeks knowledge from domain specialists when needed.
  • Drive proof of concepts using cutting edge technology with the intention of implementing in production.
  • Efficiently builds and maintains a network of key contacts across company and nurtures these contacts to achieve results.
  • Support and solve data and/or system issues as needed, including routine administration of platforms to maintain compliance.
  • Participate in user story creation and code design reviews.
Who you are:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Established understanding of Observability fundamentals (Logging, Metrics, Tracing)
  • Proven experience working with monitoring platforms like DataDog, Splunk, InfluxDB, Grafana, and Prometheus.
  • Proficient in at least two of the following languages: Python, CloudFormation, Ansible. Golang experience a plus.
  • Experience with containerized applications and automation, and CI/CD frameworks to automate builds, test, and deployments.
  • Experience delivering cloud computing solutions using AWS services like ec2, S3, Dynamo, and vpce technologies
  • Experience with JavaScript, NodeJS, QUnit
  • Comfortable with developer tools like GitHub, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, and Perforce
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
