Its innovative culture is driven by the passion of its 4240- strong team of scientists who work with clients from around the world to solve their scientific problems, improve R&D productivity, speed up time to market and lower the cost of innovation.Job Purpose: The Scientist will work in the Invitro Pharmacology Group of Discovery Biology and Translational Medicine (DTM) team at the Biocon Bristol Myers Squibb Research Centre (BBRC), Bangalore. She/He will be involved in invitro enzyme assays and cell-based functional assays to evaluate different target molecules, associated with multiple drug discovery programs, mainly in the areas of Immunology and Oncology.Key Responsibilities: Carry out invitro enzyme based assays (enzyme kinetics, mechanism of inhibition) and biochemical assays (HTRF, AlphaLISA, luminescence based assays). Perform Immunology/Cell Biology based functional assays (Flow cytometry, ELISA, cell viability, cell proliferation) Evaluate compounds in various primary cell-based assays (working with mouse cells, human PBMCs etc). Carry out cell culture based techniques for maintenance of various cell lines and primary cell cultures. Independently conduct lab experiments, interpret and analyze results. Develop new research protocols where appropriate protocols are not described in the literature or where modification or adaptation of standard procedures and protocols is required. Collaborate with team members across different departments, when required. Perform ongoing literature review to remain current with new procedures and related research; apply to ongoing research and development of new protocols. Oversee the daily activities of the laboratory including lab maintenance; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general lab support as needed. Comply with the lab safety regulations and attend the required relevant training conducted by health and safety department.Educational Qualification: MTech/MSc degree in Biotechnology/Cell Biology/Immunology/Oncology/Biochemistry with 5-10 years of relevant work experience (academia or industry) Previous experience in Invitro assays/Immunology/Oncology/Cell Biology Research.Technical/Functional Skills: Comprehensive understanding of basic scientific principles. General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master scientific applications relevant to the Biological assay read-outs. Strong analytical skills and excellent laboratory practices. Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. Ability to work within stipulated timelines and meet deliverables. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.Experience: 5-10 YrsBehavioral Skills: Good problem-solving skills, oratory skills, learning attitude, collaboration, and responsiveness with a sense of urgency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
