Electrical Technician (Solar)

Job Description

Position Title: Electrical TechnicianJob PurposeTo support the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the solar power plant by executing routine maintenance, plant monitoring, and fault rectification activities in coordination with the technical team, ensuring high plant availability, optimal performance, and adherence to safety standards.Experience & QualificationsEducation: ITI Electrical Technician Certificate or Equivalent in Electrical EngineeringExperience:Minimum 2 years in the electrical fieldAt least 1 year in Solar Power Plant O&MComputer Skills: Basic computer literacy; ability to operate CMMS and SCADA systemsRoles & ResponsibilitiesPlant Operations & MonitoringPerform preventive maintenance and attend to equipment breakdowns to reduce plant downtime.Conduct visual inspections and equipment status checks using SCADA systems.Monitor inverter performance and other key plant components for optimal output.Prepare daily logbooks and maintain accurate records of all activities, faults, and maintenance work.Support in plant performance analysis and implement corrective actions for performance optimization.Technical ExecutionExecute tasks as instructed by the Lead Technician and coordinate with the Control Center and Grid Coordinator.Follow operational procedures for safe plant functioning during commissioning, HOTO, and stabilization phases.Support in data entry and record updates in the digital CMMS platform (Company or Owner provided).Maintain records of spare part usage and inform supervisors for replenishment needs.Assist in troubleshooting faults and conducting root cause analysis (RCA).Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)Comply with HSE guidelines and ensure safe operations at all times.Participate in safety drills, technical training, and toolbox talks organized by the company.Collaboration & SupportWork as part of a site team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders when required.Be willing to stay at the plant site as per operational requirements.Key CompetenciesTechnical SkillsKnowledge of solar power plant equipment and systemsFamiliarity with SCADA and CMMS systemsAbility to perform electrical troubleshooting and maintenanceBehavioral CompetenciesCommunication: Ability to communicate clearly in the local language; basic English proficiency preferredTeamwork: Works collaboratively with team membersAccountability: Takes ownership of tasks and outcomesDecision Making: Takes timely and appropriate decisions within scopeAttention to Detail: Maintains accuracy in reporting and maintenance execution
