Job Description

Reporting to: Professor Vivek Tanavde Role Summary: Managing the Imaging and Cytometry Facility at Ahmedabad University About us: The School of Arts and Sciences has five divisions: Humanities and Languages, Social Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Biological and Life Sciences and Performing and Visual Arts. Biological and Life Sciences currently operates in the area of nanotechnology, bioinformatics, stem cells, cancer biology, ecology, microbiology, parasitology, plant biology, infectious disease and evolutionary biology. Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in setting up the Imaging and Cytometry Facility at Ahmedabad University funded under the DBT SAHAJ grant.
  • Daily maintenance and appropriate calibration of instruments housed in the Imaging and Cytometry Facility.
  • Assisting internal and external users of the facility in sample processing, acquisition and data analysis.
  • Participate in training workshops organised to train users in the use of imaging and cytometry instruments.
  • Managing reagents purchase and maintenance of accounts related to the facility.
Key Skills:
  • Experience in cell sorting and flow cytometry or imaging preferred but not required.
  • Good and effective communication skills in English.
  • Good laboratory management skills.
  • Prior experience in teaching laboratory modules is desirable.
Qualification: MSc (any area of Biochemistry/Microbiology/Molecular biology/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Life Sciences either Biology/Physics/Chemistry). Candidates with a Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree with minimum 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in flow cytometry will also be considered.
