Cyber Security Operations Manager

Job Description

As a Cybersecurity Operations Manager at HSBC, you will be responsible for leading a team of 40-50 security professionals to provide global services for detecting and responding to cyber security threats. Your role involves working closely with global peers to ensure 24/7 coverage, developing and managing a highly skilled local team, and maintaining awareness of the threat landscape to anticipate and respond to potential risks. You will collaborate with other Cybersecurity teams and the wider HSBC businesses to enhance security measures effectively.Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of security professionals to detect and respond to cyber security threats- Provide 24/7 coverage for critical global Cybersecurity Operations services- Develop, manage, and maintain an efficient local team across all service lines- Stay informed about the current and predicted threat landscape for proactive monitoring and response- Collaborate with Cybersecurity and CTO teams to ensure technological capabilities support operational response effectively- Identify and automate processes to maximize operational efficiency- Focus analysis on challenging tasks to reduce false positives and negatives- Collaborate with wider teams to produce efficient security event monitoring and incident response playbooks- Promote self-improvement culture among staff to maintain expertise in cyber securityQualifications Required:- Understanding of cyber security principles and global financial services business models- Knowledge of industry cyber security frameworks and standards such as OWASP, ISO27001, PCI DSS, etc.- Experience in high-pressure environments with critical decision-making- Ability to identify and respond to advanced attacker methodologies- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for clear reporting- Solid understanding of business finance and budget management- Leadership experience in cyber-security operations team development and recruitment- Proven ability to implement procedural and technological changes in a global organizationAdditional Company Details:- The Cybersecurity Operations Manager will play a critical role in driving sustainable operational plans aligned with department strategy.- The jobholder will lead and facilitate change through clear strategy, operational planning, and effective communication.- Building effective technology and process control capability is essential to meet evolving security and compliance needs.- The role requires collaborating with peers and business leads to implement controls in alignment with risk posture and industry best practices.- The Cybersecurity Operations Manager will also drive innovation to gain competitive advantage and embed innovation into working practices.
