Working collaboratively with our Business Leaders, you will ensure the effective implementation of programs, policies and procedures which will continually improve VGAs safety culture.Your responsibilitiesYour responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Partner with and coach Leaders to raise awareness and accountability for the management of SHEQ risks.
  • Contribute to/support with the maintenance/continuous improvement of the SHEQ Management System as required.
  • Assist Leaders to implement SHEQ strategies, execution plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Health, Wellbeing and Injury Management BPs and relevant site management to support the welfare, treatment and return to work of injured workers.
  • Produce SHEQ performance reports for AoR and coach Leaders on regular review and analysis of performance to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate and deliver SHEQ training programs.
  • Support and/or participate in as required the conduct of SHEQ compliance audits (internal and external).
  • Facilitate incident investigations (ICAM) of all serious incidents, mentor Leaders in the process and facilitate contributing factors and root cause analysis to develop effective control measures.
  • Coach Leaders on the development of site risk registers, and the continual monitoring and review of operational risks to ensure effective control measures are implemented.
Your future teamReporting to the National SHEQ Manager, you will work in a team who cover VGAs national footprint, with your role supporting our QLD sites. The SHEQ team are a group of dedicated individuals, who strive to develop and maintain strong working relationships within VGA and foster a positive safety culture. This role will have a home base of Wacol, at our Volvo Group Head Office, with regular travel to other Brisbane-based and Gold Coast-based sites.Who are youAt VGA, we believe that your behaviours and characteristics are just as important as your technical ability. In this role, you will bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a WHS or equivalent discipline.
  • Previous experience in a similar SHEQ role within large commercial businesses.
  • Experience with leading complex incident investigations (ICAM highly desirable).
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • The ability to exercise independent judgement and effective problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interpret and apply appropriate legislation, standards and guidelines within the SHEQ discipline.
