Job Description

Our job is to supply the tools and services - the pots, pans, soups and sauces - they need to work better, faster and safer, leading to better patient outcomes.What you ll do:

  • Utilizing BOM and Cost Schedules and other information and engineering systems to assist in identifying the form, fit and function of products to arrive at accurate HTS classification and or Origin Preference determination.
  • Issue FTA Certificates of Origin for qualifying items and coordinate with import/export teams for legal submission. Research organizations item ingredients composition and sourcing to determine Country of Origin based on applicable Rules of Origin. This requires an in-depth understanding of regulations as well as the specific methods (RVC, Tariff Shift, De minimis) to determine Country of Origin. This also requires coordination and information gathering across a variety of corporate functional areas including commodities, co-manufacturing, R&D, QRC and others.
  • Research and assign required classification to companys relevant items, including raw materials, intermediate products, packaging, finished goods and equipment.
  • Classification SOPs must be followed to ensure that all relevant General Rules of Interpretation, General Notes and Custom Rulings are properly cited, and that records are maintained reflected drawings, technical information or and other supporting data used to achieve a high level of classification accuracy.
  • Complete through an in-depth analysis, ultimately classifying, and justifying categorizations of products according to government-provided regulations.
  • Review bills of material, technical materials, drawings, and other literature to ensure proper classifications are assigned; assigning classifications to parts on bills as required.
  • Responsible for the determination system maintenance and record keeping deed to support organizations product for all relevant Free Trade Agreements, including price reviews, Cost Analysis Sheet creation, coordinate with functional areas to monitor sourcing changes. Periodic review of standard cost fluctuation to determine adherence to rules of origins thresholds.
  • Maintenance of all records, data integrity and supporting documentation to ensure organization is able to support FTA claims.
  • Maintenance of data and electronic records for Special Programs, organizations classification and Country of Origin through organizations Global Trade System and other databases. Maintain Special Program Matrix. This includes record keeping and audit of FTA Certificates issued by suppliers.
Facilitating all team and company objectives for effective performance, including but not limited to the following:
  • Obtaining a thorough understanding of Customs laws concerned and regulations regarding product classification.
  • Developing a thorough knowledge of customer desk procedures; updating and maintaining procedural changes as necessary; and providing input for process improvements.
  • Reviewing all new items to assign a Harmonized Tariff Schedule number; if an accurate number cannot be provided, providing client contact with questionnaire, indicating the item requires further research.
  • Communicating with internal clients and external supplier on issues regarding detailed information on details of parts origin information and or classification assisting information.
  • Reviewing existing tariff numbers for accuracy by analyzing data supplied by client.
  • Reviewing outside supplier assigned Tariff Schedule numbers for accuracy, updating the mainframe system, as necessary.
  • Attending and actively participating in team meetings, client status meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Updating, maintaining, and providing improvements to the product questionnaires.
Who you are:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in performing Customs HTS classification.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering preferably in Electronics, Chemicals or Mechanical stream or equivalent.
  • Additional qualification in International Trade, Customs classification process is preferable.
  • Exposure to International ITAR and US Export control classification process is desirable.
  • Exposure to Global countries Harmonized Tariff Schedule is advantageous.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of Free Trade Agreements utilized in Asia market, rules of origin and method of determination.
  • Customs Classifier s certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global team environment
  • Understanding of import processes, customs compliance, broker operations and business requirements is desirable.
  • Excellent analyzing computer skills including data entry, PC, Windows, database and Excel spreadsheet.
  • Interpersonal communication skills, relationship management and collaboration skills.
