Job Description

    Job Title: DCS Operator Production Department: Production Reporting to: Manager/Executive Production Grade: To be discussed Location: Dahej, Gujarat Positions Reporting into Role: NARole PurposeTo manage shift field operations of VAM and VAE plants by leading DCS operations and ensuring smooth production activities in compliance with SOPs, quality, and EHS norms.Key Responsibilities
    • Operate the DCS/PLC system for plant start-up, shutdown, and steady operations in line with production targets.
    • Monitor and control process parameters (flow rates, pressures, temperatures, levels, etc.) through displays, graphics, and trend logs.
    • Communicate with field operators for process adjustments and provide necessary direction.
    • Lead DCS operations during shifts, ensuring compliance with production, quality, and safety requirements.
    • Report abnormalities and deviations immediately to shift in-charge and take corrective action.
    • Manage emergency operations, including plant shutdown, isolation, blowdown, and ESD systems.
    • Operate high-pressure reactors, distillation columns, catalytic reactors, scrubbers, process gas compressors, and batch plants.
    • Maintain logs, historian data, alarm/fault registers, and conduct analysis to improve operational stability.
    • Optimize raw material, chemical, and utility usage.
    • Prepare operational reports and support audits, compliance, and safety reviews.
    • Participate in commissioning, PSSR activities, and troubleshooting exercises.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean practices and risk assessments.
    • Ensure strict adherence to companys HSE policy and SOPs.
    • Train and mentor new operating staff as required.

    • Achieving monthly production targets without compromising SOPs, Quality, and EHS norms.
    • Meeting raw material efficiency targets.
    • Reduction in alarm frequency and operational deviations.

    Role RequirementsQualifications (Essential)
    • Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Polymer Engineering
    Experience
    • Essential: 3-7 years of DCS & PLC operations in continuous process chemical/petrochemical industries.
    • Desired:
      • Hands-on experience with ABB/Yokogawa/Honeywell DCS.
      • Exposure to high-pressure reactors, polymerization, distillation, and petrochemical operations.
      • Troubleshooting knowledge of process equipment.
    Functional Competencies
    • Strong knowledge of unit operations (Mass & Heat Transfer).
    • Understanding of PFDs and P&IDs in chemical industries.
    • Handling of distillation, absorption systems, compressors, and high-pressure reactors.
    • Knowledge of MSDS for chemicals.
    • Familiarity with utilities, mechanical equipment, and instrumentation.
