Job Description

A specialist is the one who is an expert in his field. He boasts of proficient knowledge in his area of interest. He is known as a specialist since he has exemplary qualifications and a thorough experience in his core subjects. He is aware of the stages that a project goes through and the problems that surface during the execution of the projects. Hence, a specialist is someone who works at a senior position and provides guidance to the project management team throughout its development stage. An engineering specialist too enjoys a similar position in a team. He is responsible to oversee the various stages of product development and provide expert leadership during the process. We have discussed a few over here.Provide guidance during the planning, designing, development and testing stages of the project managementSupervise the factory operations and evaluate the procedures to judge their productivity and efficiency levelsStress on introducing factory automation to improve the productivity rate at the factoryAnalyze the engineering methods used at the factory and identify the areas that need improvementReplace the shortcomings and inconsistencies within the operations with newer and updated methodsReview the technical competence of the organization and judge the sophistication of the technology used at the factoryDraft charts, maps and blueprints as required for developing the engineering documentationsTake suitable actions in response to the queries,suggestions and complaintsPerform research on various issues and generate the necessary knowledge base for the organizationMake recommendations to the project teams on improving the productivity at a reduced priceSecondary ResponsibilitiesExercise substantial initiative/judgement in work methods and interpretinggoals Self-supervising within the guidance and expectations of divisionalmanagement Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design andmanufacture High level of analytical ability Demonstrated performance in a position requiring both high creativity andengineering technical excellence History of success in applying advanced technology to enhance usabilityof complex parts and/or systems Experience of developing and deploying products in a global market Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication andinterpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members andcustomers to solve problems and resolve issues Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projectsand assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results Demonstrate initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improveoutput and/or help others understand the technical nuances of product ofexpertise Able to deal with ambiguity A sound knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software, technicaldrawings and 3D modelling A knowledge of the qualities of metals and other materials An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods Ability to plan and organise through several project stages An appreciation of wider business demands An awareness of the environmental impact of design ideas Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Project Able to give effective presentations to general audiences and writeconvincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material fordepartment consumption Knowledgeable in some technical areas of the groups scope, or havingdemonstrated ability to achieve a high level of proficiency in a short periodof time Ability to support group to achieve goals within budget Demonstrated fiscal responsibility Ability to work well with others in a team environment, providing input andfeedback in a helpful manner Able to exercises some latitude and technical judgement in deciding workmethodsQualifications and Experience Levels: Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or HNC, BTecProfessional Level 4 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 4 qualifications.
