Job Description

Position Summary

The Master Data Manager is an operations role that supports the growth and quality of our OceanSMART Master Data. This role includes planning and tasking the Master Data team, maintaining documented procedures for researching, collecting and entering data into the OceanSMART Master Data and maintaining accurate up to date records Duties Responsibilities Functions

ESSENTIAL Build Review, validate and execute global master data create change requests in the OceanSmart Master Data Set Responsible for overseeing the delivery of data requests by the business functions Respond to work-flow requests by integrating the efforts of IT to the business processes, while adhering to data governance processes and guidelines. Maintain data definition and effectiveness of work-flow processes for maintenance of master data Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources. Develop and maintain ingestion process documentation of master data. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. Improve Conduct ongoing data quality analysis on data sets, ensuring high quality data. Will work with Data Steward to identify and resolve data discrepancies Contribute to the continuous improvement of the data management processes to ensure continuity and stability. Monitor and Coach Master Data team to continuously improve master data quality Perform basic statistical and relational analysis of large data sets to identify and correct inconsistencies anomalies Increase data accuracy and integrity by performing adhoc data analysis to identify data quality issues. Collaborate Inform and advise requesters and key stakeholders of status as appropriate Assist with defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with various stakeholders. Work with data steward to prioritize business and information needs. Understand Full understanding of the change control requirements to ensure compliance with the audit system. Understand the impact of master data within the organization and supporting system Adapt React to escalation notices to expedite creation or changes to master data by prioritizing and rebalancing other requests using a defined escalation protocol as needed Lead end-to-end testing of Master Data processes Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans. Multi-task in a multi-functional environment while maintaining service level targets Support Responsible for maintaining and reconciling the JIRA ticketing system including Master Data Service Requests and Change Requests. Supervisory Responsibilities This position is responsible for the team of Master Data Specialists Reporting Relationship Reports to the Maritime Data Steward Qualifications REQUIRED A college degree, or equivalent education and experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Master Data Management/Data governance role. Experience with use and support of applications to extract, transform, and load data Experience and knowledge of writing sql queries (Select, Update, etc.). Experience with Python language and scripting Experience with MS Office and data programs. Experience with data quality and data management practices DESIRED Familiarity with administrative duties. Commercial Maritime experience Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Understanding of the Bulk Maritime Shipping Supply Chain Superior detail orientation, analytical and organizational skills Sense of urgency, flexibility and ability to multitask Strong team player. Ability to select and consistently apply standard policies and procedures Very good oral and written communication skills with ability to furnish concise information Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, high transaction team environment. Complete work within defined service targets in situations with tight turnarounds and deadlines Additional Information Working Conditions This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.
