Job Description

Systems managers plan, coordinate, and direct computer-related activities at an organization and help determine its information technology goals. They analyze an organizations computer needs and recommend possible upgrades for top executives to review. They plan and direct the installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems and ensure network and electronic documents are safe and secure at the organization. They assess the cost and benefits of new projects to justify projects funding to top executives and determine long and short-term department personnel needs.IT systems managers are responsible for the integrity, database management, security and performance of organisational computer systems.
• Liaise with other managers regarding system requirements
• Plan, strategise and implement action to meet specific system requirements
• Ensure that maintenance and support tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Allocate and oversee the work of IT developers
• Understand the training needs of individual personnel and ensure these are met
• Manage budgets and purchase software and hardware as necessary
