Job Description

Position Summary

Communications Engineer, Technologist II, will be responsible for design, installation and maintenance of the Global IT Network at Oceaneering. The individual must be qualified at all levels of LAN, WAN, VPN with an emphasis on Security and Wireless. The candidate must be competent to work as a SME in the design and troubleshooting organizational global wireless and security technologies.

Knowledge of standard project management practices with excellent written and oral communications skills are also required.

Duties & Responsibilities

In this role the Communications Engineer will be providing technical leadership in the enterprise infrastructure. The individual will be part of a team evaluating the Security and Wireless technologies which are to be deployed at our Worldwide offices. The individual will need to be an expert in these technologies and design and implement a solution so as to maximize the function of the equipment purchased.

Other Duties and responsibilities include troubleshooting outages, alarms and performance issues throughout the organization. A full understanding of our change control requirement so as to ensure compliance with the audit system is also a responsibility.

    This position has NO supervisory responsibilities Reports to Manager, IT Service Center Works closely with other IT groups. Qualifications

    REQUIRED

    • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of working as a lead on Wireless and Security technologies
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Bachelor Degree and Certifications preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

    • Must have an expert understanding of the TCP/IP network protocols.
    • Must be an expert with the Cisco ASA and Fortinet firewalls with working knowledge of DMZ design and security best practices.
    • Must be an expert with configuring and troubleshooting GRE/IPSEC, DMVPN, Any Connect and SSL VPN.
    • Must be able to Administer F5 Load Balancer and BIG - IP Appliance.
    • Must be able to Design, implement and support using best practices the various F5 modules (LTM, GTM, APM)
    • Must be able to interpret and derive conclusions from security logs.
    • Must be an expert in Wireless design typically gained from past experiences including Cisco, Aruba or Motorola.
    • Must be an Expert in switching technologies.
    • Knowledge of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
    • Must be an expert on Cisco ASR s, Nexus, Catalyst 6500 s 2960 s, 2900 ISR, 3560, ASA and WISM product line.
    • Must be able to navigate and maintain Network Monitoring tools such as Solarwinds and Cisco Prime.
    • Ability to work well in a team or individually.

    This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
