Job Description

Position Summary :

NCR Chennai Manufacturing Plant hiring Manufacturing Engineer/Safety Officer to manage multiple locations EHS activities.

Manufacturing Engineer/Safety Officer will report to Manufacturing Engineering AGM and work with relevant stakeholders / Cross Functional Team for necessary safety assignments as required by the Chennai Mfg Plant.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

The Manufacturing Engineer/Safety Officer will correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority, although the He/She may exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.

  • Participate in planning meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in the operations daily workplan.
  • Review the Incident Action Plan for safety implications.
  • Exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts.
  • Investigate accidents that have occurred within incident areas.
  • Ensure preparation and implementation of Site Safety Plan (SSP)
  • Assign assistants and manage the incident safety organization.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer/Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer/Safety Officer maintains awareness of active and developing situations.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer/Safety Officer ensures the Site Safety Plan is prepared and implemented.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer/Safety Officer ensures there are safety messages in each Incident Action Plan.
  • Terminate all imminently dangerous operations immediately. For other non-time critical safety hazards contact the Safety Officer for termination guidance.
  • Attend morning field safety briefings at Staging Areas and assembly points to ensure site safety plan was covered.
  • Keep workers, supervisors and the Safety Officer informed often.
  • Monitor, Update ERT Team members with combination of shop floor Assemblers and executive staffs.
  • Conduct Emergency Mock Drills (As per site emergencies) as per statutory compliance.
  • Advise Mfg / Mfg Engineering team on layout plans as per necessary safety standard requirements.Assist Business Continuity Plan as required.
  • Ensure, EHS Monthly Audits, and MSDS, Preventive Audit checklist for plant and machineries.

Basic Qualifications must be:

  • Full Time - Engineering in Mechanical/ Electrical with Diplomo /UG/PG Industrial Engineering qualification from Reputed and Recognised Colleges / University is required.
  • Male candidates with 4-6 years of experience in supervisory role in safety from any Automobile, Processing, Manufacturing is preferable
