We are looking for people to join our national Road Safety Team Primary Job Responsibilities In order for you to fulfill this role you must have a detailed knowledge and experience of collision investigation and prevention; road safety audit; design team support; and Highways England Safety Governance processes. Training and Experience: Essential: Demonstrable experience in accident investigation and prevention (AIP); road safety audit; and design team support. Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis, report and narrative setting out the findings of road safety investigations. Degree qualified or equivalent, you will have experience as a Road Safety Engineer for road safety studies with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects. Recent experience working on Highways England schemes and knowledge of PCF products. Member of Society of Road Safety Auditors (MSoRSA) or eligible to achieve MSoRSA. Working towards Chartered Engineer or equivalent. Approved Road Safety Audit Team Leader/Member in accordance with HD19/15 for strategic network projects (Highways England; Welsh Government; Transport Scotland). Holder of Certificate of Competence in Road Safety Audit (via a Highways England approved route, currently TMS or SoRSA) or eligible to achieve this with no further experience or qualification. Strong working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), and current design best practice including Manual for Streets, Manual for Streets II. Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems. Experience in leading teams, either with direct line manager responsibility or through project based work. Knowledge of the application of GD04/12 Standard for Safety Risk Assessment on the Strategic Road Network Qualifications Desirable: Experience in the use of GD04/12 Standard for Safety Risk Assessment on the Strategic Road Network. Recent experience in working on the Highways England Smart Motorway programme and knowledge of PCF products Chartered Engineer or equivalent. Experience of AutoCAD Knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM) Experience in other relevant disciplines including modelling and highway design including roadside restraint design. Track record of successfully mentoring and developing junior colleagues Successful candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard Pre-Employment check and will be required toundergo various checks including: Identity, Right to Work; Employment/Education History and Criminal Record.
