OverviewEntra Core Services is the platform engineering team for Microsoft Entra, previously known as Azure Active Directory. Entra offers the Identity and access management platform for Microsoft 365, Azure, and many software companies to aid in creating resilient, scalable, and secure cloud services. Our primary clients are engineers within Microsoft Entra, and we provide default-safe implementations via services, libraries, and tools required by each development team to operate a production-ready service from day one.This position provides a rare chance to work on large-scale distributed systems. The identity stack supports all other Microsoft offerings. • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Senior level software engineering experience.
• Relevant experience in managing software engineers as well as developing highly effective engineering teams.
• Experience in architecting and designing complex software systems or services.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving skills, and ability to drive changes across multiple organizations.
• Experience of developing and managing requirements, resources, schedules and making data-driven decisions.

Highly-valued skills:

• A passion for observability, quality, resilience patterns.
• A practical understanding of best-of-class 3rd party offerings in the APM, monitoring, error tracing, or incident management space.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.ResponsibilitiesWithin Entra Core Services, Reliability, Resilience, and Quality focuses on reducing time to detect, mitigate, and notify customer. We would expect you to help set and continuously raise the observability standard for Microsoft Entra. Examples are scaled roll-out of SLI/SLO, build out-of-the-box experiences that help catch outages in early rings, leverage the corpus of past incidents to identify changes that could affect availability and security.As part of the team, your mission will be to:

• Manage, coach and mentor engineers, build a high-performing engineering team.
• Develop and maintain a wide and deep knowledge of our platform and the space, recognize problems, identify opportunities, design solutions.
• Work closely with customers and partners to understand their requirements and scenarios, and effectively lead towards delivering the necessary solutions.
• Define a direction for your team to deliver such solutions and adjust and change course as needed when facing challenges.
• Collaborate with other engineers, program managers, and designers across the Entra organization and beyond to deliver end-to-end experiences that delight our customers and users.
