Job Description

Required hands on Knowledge on Dell EMC Data Domain Power protect DD6900 solution.Required hands on knowledge on Veritas NetBackup (Installation)Knowledge on DELL EMC ML3 Tape Library.Knowledge on Netapp AFF A700AHandling the backup of all the servers, storage, device configurations and other requisite data as per backup policy.Performing media management like inter and intra city tape transfers.Handling service requests on-demand for backup and restoration from various stakeholders.Generating periodic reports on the backup/restoration performance.Performing archival and retrieval of archived data.Performing backup media maintenance:Complying with media rotation requirements and/ or following standard procedureLabelling backup media as per backup policyPlanning and requisitioning of storage mediaMonitoring and maintaining the tape poolRegistering tapes into automated tape handling devicesRotation of tapes to offsite facilitiesDestroying of media coming out of service in accordance with back up policyRe-indexing of backed up media and vault managementMaintaining/monitoring/updating asset register for media tapesPerforming backups as per back up policy.Executing database back-ups and restores (including export and/or import) using database tools as required.Performing activities such as bringing down databases, servers, etc. for on-demand backup or as per defined frequency.Monitoring the backups & report on backup logs.Creating/maintaining documentation on know-how for all activities and periodically reviewing for currency and obtaining approvals wherever required.Providing proactive updates for equipment(hardware/software) based on OEM rollouts.Restoring backups as authorized (including user approval for restoration to the required path, business manager approval for restoration to the required path and IT approval for all other restorations)Periodically verifying backup media integrity and testing of backup and restoration process as per a defined scheduleRestoring single or multiple objects from the backup mediaReviewing backup and restoration process and infrastructure and recommend to reduce the backup or restoration windows. Monitoring the backup and report on backup logs. Reasons for backup failures are to be analyzed, reported and reinitiated.Creating/maintaining documentation on know-how for all activities and periodically reviewing for currency and obtaining approvals wherever required.Performing Backup Encryption and encryption key handling.Performing Disaster recovery replication of virtual tape libraries.Performing maintenance of appropriate documentation, in accordance with back up policy:Maintaining a backup registerBackup and verification LogsRestoration LogsRoot cause analysisStorage capacity planning for media tapes/tape libraries/VTL, etc.Rapidly resolving every backup request/incident/problem within mutually agreed timelines.Coordinating with various teams for smooth functionality during BCP/mock/releases/contingency exercises and all associated activities.Creating/maintaining documentation on know-how for all activities and periodically reviewing for currency and obtaining approvals wherever required.Collecting data and Preparing reports for regulatory, internal and other ad-hoc reporting and activities such as audits, etc. Call logging / coordinating with OEM/L3 for support/ issue resolution and RUN operations.
