Chief Engineer

Job Description

Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel. They ensure that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems function properly while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. The role also involves managing a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff to provide a seamless guest experience.Key Responsibilities:1. Maintenance & OperationsSupervise the repair, maintenance, and operation of the hotels electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.Ensure the proper functioning of elevators, air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and water systems.Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to prevent breakdowns and ensure safety.Implement energy conservation programs and recommend cost-effective maintenance solutions.2. Team ManagementLead and supervise the engineering team, including technicians, electricians, and maintenance staff.Train, develop, and evaluate staff performance to ensure efficient operations.Assign tasks and monitor work schedules for preventive and corrective maintenance.3. Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including fire safety standards.Maintain proper records of maintenance activities, permits, and inspections.Work with external vendors and government authorities for audits and safety inspections.4. Budget & Cost ControlDevelop and manage the departments maintenance budget.Monitor expenses related to equipment repairs, energy consumption, and procurement of spare parts.Propose capital improvement projects to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.5. Emergency Response & Crisis ManagementRespond to emergencies such as power failures, plumbing issues, or system malfunctions.Develop contingency plans to handle emergencies without disrupting hotel operations.
