JOB PURPOSE The role owner provides leadership & Strategic insights to the entire gamut of R & D activities , is an active partner to the business & is end to end responsible for developing products and driving technical innovation in line with the Business Units product roadmap. He/she is also accountable for developing , scaling up & ensuring technology transfers apart from determining product specifications and process parameters. The challenge is to work across all the product lines with a view to maximize product profitability , cost efficiency and improve product performance leading to a higher traction in the markets. The role also includes ensuring competitiveness and innovation of products and processes from a technology and design standpoint. Collaborate with businesses & stakeholders to ensure and consolidate the improvement of the technical know- howwithin the working group through structured sharing & cascade. The role is responsible to apply all relevant international regulations/norms/standards across the current & new product streams. The role holder is expected to scan the technology landscape across the globe for allied / synergic product expansion opportunities and would be responsible to drive technology transfer for the inorganic expansion for the existing businesses. III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leads development projects for all the BUs Lead cost- efficiency R&D projects for the BUs Incorporates relevant design expertise and experience in projects , in line with the product strategy. Promotes & encourages Self managed teams & imbibe a culture of creativity & innovation in the R&D teams Proactive research for best- in- class technology among competitors , global players and develops innovation roadmap Collaborate with product managers to ensure customer focus and target costing; co- create product roadmaps & provides Solutions to customer insights. Own up & manage the product development including commercialisation by defining the right allocation of the resources for the projects. Establishes and maintains operational budgets for the teams and Labs. Encourages best- practicesharing through networks , meetings , newsletters , knowledge sharing tools and all other initiatives in a structured manner. IV. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Measurable Deliverables Delivery of the project charter agreed with BUs Delivery of the Innovation pipeline. Business Impact Financial & Non Financial Knowledge Enhancement through Seminars and papers Active Talent pool within the R & D. Institutionalization of processes. V. QUALIFICATIONS , CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum Qualifications M.Sc. / B.E. / B. Tech.in Polymer Chemistry. PhD Essential. Specific experience Solution and Emulsion Polymerization Overall experience Minimum 12 years post Doctorate. Should have managed multiple products & large teams at the leadership level. Strong credential to establish a futuristic vision & its correlation with businesses. VI.
