  • Join an Agile scrum team to develop leading router and switching device control features for Ciena s Packet Networking product offerings.
  • Deliver software in diverse, industry-leading product formats: as virtualized functions for NFV, integrated on Ciena s advanced packet networking switches, and others.
  • Contribute automation scripts, schedule execution, and perform result analysis in our continuous integration system.
  • Create test cases, execute test suites within project timeline, defects validation, and documentation to deliver high quality excellent products.
  • Trouble shoot issues with various hardware platforms, routing protocols and services; identify root cause, diagnose, debug and document your finding.
General Activities
  • Architect and design test methodology focus in platform dependent in hardware and software across system components including data plane / control plane interaction, device management, kernel, performance, negative testing and virtualized containers
  • Participate in all phases of software development life cycle, including design, product validation, documentation, and solving deployment issues
  • Work in an agile development environment and participate in sprint activities to plan and produce rapid cycle, high quality deliverables
Collaboration with stakeholders
  • Interact with Architects and Marketing to evaluate and address customer requirements and determine effective design approaches
  • Partner with peer development scrums to ensure excellent cross-component design
  • Work with Developers to verify the software and product work the way customers expect
Areas of impact
  • Contributing new features to Ciena s SAOS network operating system, enabling new customers and markets
  • Enhancing SAOS support for new platforms in the Ciena 3000/5000 family, and 3rd party white box platforms
  • Accelerating time to market for Packet Software products and features
Experience
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related discipline. Master s preferred.
  • 6 years of applicable experience testing telecom networking and access products.
  • Working experience in automation with Python programming.
  • Knowledge with platform dependent and platform independent testing methodology experience.
  • Requires applied knowledge of any or all industry-standard networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VxLAN, EVPN, L2VPN, L3VPN, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, LDP, Segment Routing.
  • Working knowledge with network industry test tools such as Ixia and open source tools.
  • Strong ability to reproduce internal or field issues in the lab, problem solving, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to quickly learn new technologies, as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work in a high-pressure, team environment.
  • Experience with product cycles and the deployment journey for carrier class products in Service Provider customer environments.
