*This role is under the Machine Learning Team (part of the Pricing, Analytics, and Models team) which works with internal and external stakeholders to deliver leading-edge advanced analytical insights to benefit the businesses of AXA XL. DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential responsibilities include
• Support the gathering and validation of data required
• Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate, and extract data for building modeling data
• Discover business insights in data using exploratory data analysis
• Perform statistical analyses of internal and external data to elicit insights into risk which will form the basis of decision-support tools
• Build project methodology; specify statistical models/analysis approach to be used
• Work closely with pricing actuaries, underwriters, and other stakeholders to communicate and receive feedback on insights arising from statistical analyses and adapt analyses accordingly
• Work with IT to implement models and create architecture to support data collection and validation
, *We re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
• Masters in statistics, mathematics, economics, or another quantitative field
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, experience in insurance preferred
• Excellent working knowledge of R, Python, or similar (Experience in Azure Databricks is a plus)
• Ability to work with incomplete and messy data to extract usable information
• Understanding of core analytical techniques like Cluster & Factor Analysis, Regression, Logistic Regression, GLMs, CART/CHAID/Decision Trees, Data Mining, Machine Learning Algorithms, Sampling Techniques, Design of Experiments, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively convey complex concepts to non-analytical people
• Able to both work well self-directly and collaborate with people from multiple functions
• Internally driven and intrinsic motivation
• Possesses natural curiosity and thinks outside the box
• Outstanding execution skills
