Production Design Engineer

Job Description

A Production Design Engineer bridges the gap between conceptual design and full-scale manufacturing . They create functional, cost-effective product designs and develop the production workflows, tooling, and assembly processes required to manufacture them efficiently and at scale.Core Responsibilities
• Product Design: Create and modify 3D models, detailed drawings, and blueprints using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD).
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) & Assembly (DFA): Optimize parts for fabrication processes (e.g., injection molding, casting, machining) to lower costs and reduce assembly time.
• Prototyping & Testing: Build and evaluate physical or virtual prototypes to validate form, fit, and function.
• Tooling Development: Design or oversee the design of molds, jigs, and fixtures required for production lines.
• Risk & Quality Management: Perform design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) to mitigate production risks and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with tooling, supply chain, and quality control teams to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks and streamline workflows. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Requirements & Qualifications
• Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Design.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software and basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural validation.
• Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with mass production methods, materials (plastics, metals), and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and the ability to clearly communicate design specifications to production floor teams
