Job Description

Department overview:

The IHS Markit Data Lake team is responsible for building a new enterprise solution to enable discovery, accessibility, understanding, usability (at scale) of our organization s massive data assets that span multiple business lines. Easy access to data will enable thousands of data analysts and scientists at IHSM to discover new insights, realize new synergies and savings, and help create new commercial opportunities.

Position summary:

In this role, you will manage a team of talented quality assurance analysts contributing to key parts of the Data Lake mission. You will be an instrumental member in ensuring that high-quality products are delivered to market. You bring a combination of expertise in:

  • automation, test tools and testing methodologies
  • SDLC and STLC in Agile methodology
  • Strong Release management
  • operating in geographically separated functional teams

In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining and continually improving the quality standards and processes throughout the team. This is a hands on role where you will build and shape test processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the end to end test process including but not limited to
  • Manage and deliver phases of testing for multiple projects
  • Create test strategies and test plans
  • Execute and sign-off on tests
  • Define the scope of testing within the context of each project / cycle
  • Monitor and report progress to all interested parties and escalate issues as required
  • Ensure the acceptance criteria for each test phase is achieved
  • Responsible for product/release quality prior to UAT and go-live
  • Liaise with work stream team leads and key business stakeholders to gain issue resolution
  • Lead and manage the automation test function
  • Lead and manage all required aspects of functional and non-functional testing

Business competencies:

Education and experience

  • 10+ years overall experience professionally developing and testing software products
  • Create and execute test strategies and plans - hands on and through delegation
  • Experience managing and mentoring QA teams
  • Demonstrated successful testing and delivery of software products
  • Solid experience in STLC SDLC in an Agile framework
  • Solid experience in all aspects of automation - UI, API
  • Experience in functional non-functional testing

Technical experience required:

  • Test management tools such as qTest, TestRail
  • Issue tracking tools mainly Jira
  • As the QA Automation Test Lead you will be an expert around one of the coding language Java, C#, Python (Python preferred)
  • BDD tools Cucumber, Behave and like
  • API automation and UI automation using Selenium web driver
  • Code config tools such as GIT, GitLab

Desirable Skills Experience:

Knowledge of Continuous Integration (Jenkins, TeamCity, Bamboo)

AWS or Azure

A background with Big Data driven analysis and productization
