The Product Documentation Development team develops technical content for end user to consult Ciena s telecommunication products in their day-to-day activities. We work along side our colleagues and Subject Matter Experts to understand and write concise technical contents.Are you the multifaceted and versatile Senior Content Information Manager who will join the Ciena Product Documentation Development organization Can you contribute and lead the evolution, development, and maintenance of the Ciena Technical Publications that are key to the Ciena business Can you earn the respect of brilliant colleagues, working across multiple time zones in a global team of innovators and business geniuses If you answered yes to all the above questions continue reading.What will you do at Ciena Your RoleManage and lead across multiple information development teams applying industry standard methodologies to deliver high-quality technical publications that improve and modernize our customer experience; Leverage topic-based DITA authoring methodology, processes, and tools in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, dynamic cross-functional team environment that is efficient, scalable, maintainable and single-source for multiple technical content deliverables and platforms.Lead, inspire, manage and empower a team of cross-portfolio technical content development leads and content developers to meet team deliverables including resource allocation across all product platforms.ResponsibilitiesOperational

• Lead and guide multiple information development teams using industry standard methodologies and trends; topic-based DITA authoring methodology, processes, and tools (Framemaker, AEM, TMS, etc )
• Lead and guide information development teams in executing strategic transformation initiatives that improve user experience in consuming technical content on multiple outputs and platforms that align with industry standard methodologies and trends.
• Understand, rationalize, prioritize, and execute requests against the company, product, and strategic objectives while leading an end-to-end content development process in a multi-disciplinary team of high-performing individuals in a dynamic cross-functional packet optical, routing/switching, and network management development team environment across multiple global R&D locations.
• Execute strategies for improving document efficiencies and customer documentation experience to ensure scalability, resiliency, cost-effectiveness, and maintainability.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out as they evolve, change, and new requirements emerge, and to make hard decisions and tradeoffs and grow with high levels of ownership and responsibility while working on high exposure projects and tasks.
• Play an active part in the recruitment process to scale your team.

Collaboration with stakeholders

• Facilitate communication across multiple teams and stakeholders, prioritize according to effort and company goals.
• Collaborate with functional content development team leads to manage team, their workload, priorities, and project status reporting at various cross-functional Coordinated Project Team (IPT) meetings.
• Coach, mentor, nurture, develop and empower your content development team to develop high-quality single-source technical content, publish on time on various output platforms and all within budget.

Experience / Skill Required:

• 10 years of relevant experience in the telecom industry.
• Minimum of 5 years in information development and publishing, working with different technologies and multiple concurrent product lines.
• Demonstrated experience managing and leading high-performing content development teams in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, dynamic cross-functional team environment.
• Demonstrated experience in executing various content development methodologies and workflow tools in DITA topic-based authoring methodology, Adobe Structured FrameMaker, AEM CCMS and Translation Management Systems (TMS).
• Demonstrated excellent communicator who can explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated team player - able to function cohesively within a globally distributed team dynamic across multiple geographical locations.
• Demonstrated experience building and retaining technical content developer team members, as well as assisting with their individual career development.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent.
