With your experience, technical skills, and passion for mentoring and inspiring others, you will create the components and experiences that enable the Insurance platform.What you will do:
• Own the end-to-end product life cycle for mid to large-size projects, leading design, development, testing, and deployment efforts while providing operational excellence and support.
• Develop scalable, robust, fault-tolerant software systems to support complex business-critical problems and requirements.
• Lead, coordinate, and collaborate on multiple and complex cross-organizational technical initiatives.
• Advance the teams design methodology and quality programming practices; guide and support junior team members to adapt standard methodologies.
• Continually research and advocate for industry standards and best practices in development methodologies, techniques, and technologies.
• Independently understand time constraints, cost constraints, and impact on other teams to reach sound resource and architectural trade-offs.
• Anticipate and prevent problems and roadblocks before they occur, and present technical issues and their impact to leadership.
• Successfully build and maintain a network of key contacts across Expedia, and use these contacts to achieve results.
• Communicate and work effectively with geographically distributed multi-functional teams.
• Aim for continuous improvement in software and development process with Agile development team.
Who you are:
• 9 years of experience in the field of Software Engineering.
• Bachelor s or master s in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related technical fields; Demonstrated proficiency in most areas of the professional function, and in-depth specialization in some.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present sophisticated technical information clearly and concisely.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum software development practices.
• Voracious learner, especially in the areas of technology, cloud native patterns, and system architecture.
• Able to independently drive features from inception through to completion and production deployment.
• Excellent coding skills in Java, Kotlin, GraphQL, proficiency with Web technologies. and familiarity with ReactJS.
• Experience working with gRPC, Rest APIs and familiarity with the development of services using Spring Boot on Cloud (e.g. AWS).
• Experience working around Apache Tomcat, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Docker, Gradle.
• Experience using code versioning tools for e.g. Git.
• Experience with Relational, Non-Relational Database and caching technologies and techniques.
• Able to work in a diverse organization with global decentralized teams, working across multiple locations.
