It may not be for every role, and, as part of the recruitment process, you ll have the chance to discuss smart working and how it might work for the job you are applying for.About this roleRole purpose: Provision of service & infrastructure monitoring tools support and evolution.Youll have the following responsibilitiesSupport the Tools Infrastructure Support Lead in the setup and running of TCAP Tools & Systemsfrom greenfield to stable and high performing function:- Establish organisational objectives and responsibilities.- Achieve organisational objectives and financial performance.- Take initiative to keep own skills up to date and to maintain an awareness of developments inTCAP scopeProvide Tools & Systems Infrastructure Support capabilities:- Support TCAP team through tools inputs to:Support scoping and costing of options to resolve business capacity issues.Support investigation of service and component capacity issuesSupport definition of upgrade/downgrade recommendationsCarry out technical assessment of tools changesCarry out impact analysis and risk assessmentExplain and present change as required at CABConduct diagnosis in support of NOCRestore service in support of NOCInterface with supplier technical areas to aid resolutionSupport problem investigationsSupport root cause investigationsSupport development of permanent solutionSupport definition of workaroundsExecute implementation of permanent solutionsExecute follow up actionsConduct housekeeping tasksConduct scheduled preventative maintenancePerform system health checksIdentify performance issuesModel options for tuningConduct investigation and Identify issues and opportunitiesConduct Application ProfilingProduce recommendations for tuning/changesMonitor impact of tuning activitiesOptimise event monitoring rules and correlation approachConfigure monitoring tools and tolerances to meet requirements- Ensures that appropriate Nationwide and BT standards are adhered to.- Contribute to the Tools & Systems management process and its operation and perform definedTools & Systems management tasks- Maintain the policy and standards for Tools & Systems management- Identify opportunities for automation to reduce cost or reduce error rates- Provide a range of Network/IT tools/systems reporting to ensure that agreed levels aremeasured and monitored on an ongoing basis- Conduct problem risk assessment for existing servicesMaintain risks owned by Tools & Systems Management:- Carries out risk assessment within a defined functional or technical area of business.- Uses consistent processes for identifying potential risk events, quantifying and documenting theprobability of occurrence and the impact on the business.- Support the development of mitigations and contingency plans.- Refers to domain experts for guidance on specialised areas of risk, such as architecture andenvironment.Ensures a robust line of sight and auditable trail between raw data and published end resultsSupports meetings with Nationwide, the SI and ecosystem partners regarding the cross functionalTCAP and application aware approach.Support client facing reviews of Tools & Systems Management outcomesYoull have the following skills & experienceExperience in working with the following tools: SevOne SMARTS Ionix NCM Prognosis Nagios Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) F5 Big IQ Forcepoint (Sidewinder) Control Canter Junos Space Symantec Management CentreLinux ExperienceVirtual Machine ManagementData AnalyticsMicrosoft ExcelMicrosoft PowerPointCommercial AwarenessProblem SolvingProcess ImprovementPresentation SkillsProactivityFlexibilityITILCCNAAbout BTBT has a key role in British society, fostering change and leading technology innovation.
