Job Description

There are two main areas of responsibility:Workforce Planning Analytics

  • Partnering with finance, creating quarterly Workforce Planning roll-ups and consolidation
  • Assist with Low cost site planning and migration
  • Workforce Planning analytics
Contingent Worker Program
  • Define and implement the forecasting, onboarding, and tracking process for contingent workers
  • Troubleshooter for ongoing issues with contingent worker process
  • Determine process and definitions for Flexible workers
  • Key interface between IT, RE, finance, and other HR stakeholders on workforce planning and contingent worker processes
  • Participate in the assessment of automation tools for the above activities
General Activities
  • Maintaining the data that forms the basis of the workforce forecast
  • Providing project coordination and eventual project management to projects influencing change
  • Constantly looking at ways of improving how we plan, forecast and analyze our plans
  • Quarterly Workforce Planning roll-ups and consolidation
  • Assist with Low cost site planning and migration
Collaboration with stakeholders
  • This role is integral to the HR ecosystem working with functions including recruiting, HRIS, HR Connect and our HR Business Partners
  • Key interface between IT, RE, procurement, finance, and other HR stakeholders on workforce planning and contingent worker processes
  • Visibility and impact to key HR, Finance and other business leaders
Areas of impact
  • Influence major decisions regarding the Ciena workforce, including locations, demographics, flexible working programs and others
  • Provide key data to drive recruiting, real estate and IT related decision making
  • Evolve the contingent worker program to be in line with a modernized way of using an extended workforce
Experience
  • This role has a unique set of requirements analytical and workforce/HR knowledge combined with the ability to work with and manage workforce/contingent worker vendors.
  • Having a reputation as an Excel guru ie V-lookup, macros, pivot tables
  • Excellent analytical capabilities with demonstrated ability to cut through the noise and identify the key insights from data.
  • Preferably a procurement or supplier management background. HR experience would be an asset.
  • Project coordination
  • A history of having a customer service focus / mentality
  • Previous experience with major ERP or HRIS tool (Oracle, SAP, Workday etc)
