Job Description

    Line supervisors are the people who oversee the work of other employees. They commonly manage a team of workers and are responsible for ensuring that they complete their assigned tasks in a timely manner, while also maintaining quality standards.Line supervisors may have some authority over hiring decisions or other aspects of employee management, but they generally do not make these decisions on their own. Instead, they rely on input from higher-level managers to help them decide which new hires to bring onto the team or which existing employees should be promoted into supervisory roles.A line supervisor typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
    • Ensuring that the team follows safety procedures in order to prevent injuries or accidents from occurring
    • Making sure that the work environment is safe, secure, and comfortable for employees
    • Reviewing employee performance to determine whether they are meeting job requirements
    • Making sure that employees are trained on the equipment they will be using for their jobs
    • Establishing schedules for workers and ensuring that they are adhered to
    • Working with management to develop goals for the department or shift
