The Operations Technology super department is responsible for building and operating the technology platform catering to critical business processes at Morgan Stanley including Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Client Reference Data, Position Keeping, Corporate Actions processing and other post-trade functions. The Firm operates at scale with up to 40 million trades processed on peak volume days and hundreds of billions of dollars of daily settlements with activity ongoing in multiple countries and currencies across the globe. There is a great breadth of financial products that our Operations plant handles across equity and fixed income, from cash products to complex derivatives and loans. Department The department has commenced on several strategic initiatives to better our technology and data platform. We build a critical horizontal platform (A2) that masters Client Reference Data (Account, Party) and distributes that data to all the firm trading systems. We are beginning multi-year program of cache renovation and onboarding client data to the cloud. We intend to use the latest caching techniques and cloud infrastructure. As a Technical Lead, Data Applications, youll be involved in detailed technical design, development and implementation of applications using emerging technology platforms. We are looking for a Technical Lead and Team Lead for our Settlements Instructions platform with deep knowledge in distributed systems/caching who is keen to work with latest technologies (cache/cloud), who is not intimidated by challenges; thrives under pressure; is passionate about their craft and who enjoys working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and users for delivery of software system. The role provides an opportunity to influence and be part of a team upgrading an extremely high-profile system over several years., *Skills Required (Must have): The candidate must possess a strong technology background with advanced knowledge of Java and Java based technology stack. At least 10+ years of strong experience with enterprise-wide systems - Java, cloud and web-based distributed tech stacks Strong experience in managing data intensive platforms Expertise in Object Oriented Design, Design patterns, Architecture and Application Integration Strong experience in architecting scalable applications that can support 1000+ users at a time Hands-on experience with distributed tech stack Hands-on experience for cloud-based tools and tech stack to uplift the new platform for cloud deployment Hands-on experience with core dev-ops tooling and best practices and manage this at a platform level Experience in collaborating with global stakeholders for product development Ability to co-ordinate across large team and ensure product development per multi-year roadmap Consistent track record for successful delivery of enterprise wide platforms Ability to coach and mentor the talent on development best practices with new tech stacks - cloud esp. Experience in IB/Finance domain to be effective at big scale A background that includes strong problem solving such as system integration, infrastructure debugging, or system administration. Strong people management skills ability to mentor high performing teams and build the strong culture of client-service, technical excellence and collaboration across teams.
