Exploration and Production (E&P) encompass the upstream oil and gas sector. Jobs here focus on locating, extracting, and producing crude oil and natural gas. Depending on your career focus, roles range from highly specialized subsurface geoscientists to rig-based petroleum engineers and hands-on operational roles. [ Exploration PhaseFocuses on finding viable hydrocarbon reserves.Exploration Manager: Leads teams (geologists, geophysicists), manages exploration budgets, and oversees seismic interpretation and bid submissionsGeologist / Geophysicist: Analyzes 2D/3D seismic data and well logs to identify potential drilling locations, map underground formations, and estimate resource volume.Data Manager: Maintains subsurface data and prepares portfolios for bids or farm-in/farm-out transactions.Drilling & Completion PhaseFocuses on assessing the reservoir and safely establishing extraction points.Drilling Engineer: Designs, plans, and coordinates directional drilling, well design, casing, and cementing operations.Completion Engineer: Designs and executes the preparation of a well for production (e.g., inserting production tubing, setting up the Christmas tree/wellhead).Floorhand / Roustabout: Entry-level deck crew members handling physical rig operations, cargo handling, and initial maintenance.Production PhaseFocuses on optimizing the continuous extraction and processing of hydrocarbons.Production Operator: Operates and monitors machinery (pumps, compressors, separators) used in extraction. They adjust equipment to meet production targets while maintaining strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standardsPetroleum Engineer: Oversees overall reservoir management, extraction methods, and well testing to maximize the economic viability of the asset
