    Job OverviewA Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering is a professional responsible for managing the costs of a construction project by estimating material quantities, labor costs, and overall project budget, ensuring the project is completed within financial constraints while maintaining quality standards; they work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle to achieve cost-effective construction. Key responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering: Cost estimation:Accurately calculating the quantities of materials needed and estimating associated labor costs for a project. Budgeting:Creating and managing the project budget, identifying potential cost risks and developing mitigation strategies. Tendering process:Preparing tender documents, evaluating bids from contractors, and negotiating contract terms. Progress monitoring:Tracking project progress against the budget and schedule, identifying variances and taking corrective actions. Value engineering:Proposing cost-saving measures while maintaining project quality. Site visits:Regularly visiting construction sites to assess progress and identify potential cost issues.
