Job Description

Internship summary: This internship is part of Experian s Global Identity Fraud Product Innovation team, concentrating on research and development of novel analytical solutions, new product prototyping, as well as new data asset evaluation and acquisition. This role requires extensive background and knowledge in data mining, machine learning, and engineering prototypes. Previous experience analyzing large datasets, developing data-driven statistical models, and leveraging new technologies is desirable.The Global ID Fraud Innovation Intern program is a part-time (20 hrs per week) 8 month assignment with the possibility of conversion to full-time given open reqs are available at the conclusion of the internship.In this fast-paced environment, you will need to work on multiple concurrent projects, anticipate obstacles, and make high quality deliveries on an aggressive schedule. You must also be a team player that is self-motivated and has excellent communication skills.Key responsibilities include:

  • Team up with clients and cross-business stakeholders to create new, future-oriented and differentiated capabilities for Experian
  • Uncover client problems, needs, and trends, define product designs, and create prototypes
  • Analyze, process, evaluate, and productize the use of large, complex data sets and new technologies
  • Identify and develop appropriate machine learning / data mining / text mining analytics techniques to uncover and maximize the value of data
  • Design data structure and data storage schemes and develop tools for efficient data manipulation and information retrieval
  • Develop data-driven models to quantify the value of a given data set
  • Conduct ROI and benefit analysis and validate score performance
  • Document and present analytic processes and model performance to key business and client stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Experian is seeking motivated undergraduate and postgraduate candidates with graduation dates between 2020 and 2022 with a degree emphasis in Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or other quantitative fields. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required
  • 0-2 years of work experience in analytics, data mining, and/or predictive modeling / automation
  • Proficient in more than one of Spark, Python, R, Scala, Java, or mobile app development
  • Experience with Hadoop and NoSQL related technologies such as Spark, Hive, Cassandra, MapReduce, HBase, mongoDB, etc.
  • Understand graph technologies and experience with neural network, ensemble, and deep learning methods
  • Knowledge of Bayesian statistical inference and related machine learning methods, model pipeline automation, natural language processing / text mining techniques, and related open source tools
  • Ability to work independently on the development of complex models with extremely large and challenging data structures
  • Familiarity with SQL, scripting languages and Linux / Unix environments
Plusses:
  • Experience with GPU programming
  • Familiarity with risk-based authentication, digital identity recognition, and online / mobile fraud analytics
  • Participation in industry or university hackathon events, innovation accelerators, or incubators
  • Experience with Agile software development methodology
