Job Description

Key Responsibilities/ Technical/functional Skills:
    • PhD in Chemistry-related discipline or equivalent with at least 10 years of experience
    • Experience of being part of integrated medicinal chemistry programs with proficiency in medicinal chemistry and organic chemistry. Comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts and/or methodologies within drug discovery.
    • Proven track record of delivering innovative science exemplified by peer reviewed publications, conference presentations and patent inventorship
    • Strong laboratory presence and experience in mentoring scientists
    • Science driven with a desire for learning and growth and driven by the goal to create new medicines.
    • Works closely with other experts in multi-disciplinary teams with analyze complex data, identify key drug discovery issues, propose creative solutions, and execute on medicinal chemistry designs that guide teams to success and decision points
    • Advanced knowledge of principles and concepts in other disciplines within ones own program. Updated knowledge of scientific and technological advances; and actively seeks opportunities to incorporate new scientific developments and new modalities into research program.
    • Recognizes and anticipates the scientific needs of their program and drives program goals in highly competitive environment.
    • Effective engagement with other functions such as CADD, biology and DMPK etc. to enhance design ideas; biology understanding and in vitro-in vivo correlations. Integration of biological, DMPK, toxicological and physicochemical data to influence the design of high quality drug candidates that will test hypotheses and/or meet specific biological and chemical criteria
    • Excellent scientific written and verbal communication skills. Provides program updates as needed.
    • Demonstrates high level of program engagement consistently - acts as project champion as a lead and supports DWG co-chair and or co-lead.
    • Ability to manage teams (PhDs and associates) in matrixed organization. Responsible for their delivery, performance management and IDP.
