Principal Network Architect - Red Hat IT Network TeamPosting Location : Location CZ-RemotePosting date 1 hour ago(12/8/2021 6:22 AM)Job ID 92490 Workday ID R-019606 Category Information Technology About the job The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) Network team is looking for a Principal Network Architect to join our global team in the Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. In this role, you will provide architectural and design support for all Red Hats network services. Our mission is to provide highly available, performant, and extensible global network connectivity, supporting Red Hat s associates and critical business processes. You will serve as a leading participant in the evaluation and selection of LAN, WAN, and cloud network technologies and technology providers, develop detailed network design, and participate in early technology rollout and proofs of concepts. This role can be located in any country in Europe where Red Hat is registered to do business. What you will do

• Plan and lead major cross-functional initiatives, engaging with global Infrastructure team members and internal partner teams
• Collaboratively develop and document the global architecture and detailed design for all network services and platforms, including VPN, enterprise wireless, WAN connectivity, office, and DC infrastructure
• Develop and maintain standards for documenting network architectures and detailed designs
• Influence network equipment vendor, network technology, and WAN carrier selection
• Lead early network technology rollout and proofs of concepts
• Realize cost efficiencies and network budget discussions
• Assist in the automation of operational support procedures and processes
• Identify and raise significant environmental or project risks to management
• Mentor team members and recommend training opportunities; identify key skillsets, current and future-looking, while working with management to build team capabilities
• Lead and inspire in the Network Architecture Guild; identify and address impediments
• Participate in team scrum meetings
• Present to executive leadership
• Travel when necessary to another Red Hat office for assigned work, meetings, or training
• Follow company policies and processes while completing technical tasks and implementing technical solutions

What you will bring

• 10+ years of experience with network engineering or network architecture, supporting production systems in an enterprise environment
• Expertise across key network administration areas, e.g., solid ability to architect, design, build, and validate IP networks across different vendors and topologies
• Understanding of different network architectures like core, distribution, and access versus spine and leaf, as well as across the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) stack
• Experience with DC Architecture and technologies, as well as cloud connectivity technologies, e.g., Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), IBM Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
• Demonstrable understanding of how diverse systems and technologies interact in a complex network environment
• Demonstrable ability to select network technologies, network vendors, and WAN providers
• Experience with Layer 2 protocols, including spanning tree, link aggregation, VLANs, 802.1q, multi-chassis link support, VXLAN, etc.
• Experience with routing protocols including EVPN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, static routing, etc.
• Direct experience with the iOS and Juniper CLI
• Firewall appliance experience
• Understanding of VPN or transport encryption technologies
• Ability to create and read network trace packet captures
• High level of ethics and computer security practices knowledge
• Positive approach toward customers; ability to cooperate and communicate well within the global team
• Significant experience developing scripts and automating tasks with Python or Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
• Experience with network monitoring systems, time series databases, and collecting metrics using SNMP and gNMI
• Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) methodologies

The following are considered a plus:

• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or Juniper Networks Certified Expert Lab Exams (JNCIE)-level skills
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Experience working with the business and customers on identifying requirements and translating business goals into technical solutions
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification
• Experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, or Red Hat Virtualization
• Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) processes and tools
