• Risk Assessments: Regularly inspects the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or risky practices.
• Policy Enforcement: Develops, implements, and enforces Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies that align with regulatory standards.
• Incident Investigation: Investigates workplace accidents, near-misses, or injuries to determine the root cause and recommends corrective actions.
• Training & Education: Organizes and conducts safety orientation, drills, and workshops to train employees on emergency procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensures the organization complies with all statutory and legal safety requirements, and maintains thorough records of audits, incidents, and training.
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: Typically requires a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Certifications like NEBOSH, OSHA, or IOSH are highly sought after.
• Core Skills: Strong understanding of local safety legislation, hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, training abilities, crisis management, and attention to detail.
