ATMS AND TMS Engineer

Job Description

1. Site Survey and Planning
• Conduct pre-installation site surveys.
• Assess infrastructure and connectivity needs.
• Plan the layout for sensors, cameras, traffic signals, VMS boards, and control systems.
2. Hardware Installation
• Install traffic sensors (loop detectors, radar, etc.).
• Mount and configure CCTV cameras.
• Set up Variable Message Signs (VMS).
• Install signal controllers and cabinets.
• Ensure proper power and network connections.
3. Software Configuration
• Deploy and configure ATMS software platforms.
• Integrate field devices into the central system.
• Set communication protocols (IP, serial, wireless).
• Perform system updates and licensing.
4. System Integration
• Ensure interoperability with existing ITS components (like SCADA, AVL, etc.).
• Integrate with Traffic Management Centers (TMC).
• Link system data with emergency response, law enforcement, or transit services.
5. Testing and Commissioning
• Perform system and functional testing (both hardware and software).
• Calibrate sensors and validate signal timings.
• Conduct end-to-end communication tests.
• Generate acceptance test reports.
6. Documentation
• Create system schematics and installation diagrams.
• Maintain records of configurations and IP addresses.
• Document SOPs for operation and maintenance.
7. Training and Handover
• Train operators and maintenance staff.
• Provide user manuals and troubleshooting guides.
• Support system handover and acceptance.
8. Post-Installation Support
• Monitor system performance for a defined warranty period.
• Provide technical support for issues.
• Carry out fine-tuning as needed.
