POSITION OVERVIEW:
The team focuses on leveraging data and analytics to innovatively bring better products to our clients in the retail and technology industries. Based in Mangalore and reporting to the Head of India and the Head of Data, the Data Intern will be responsible for delivering and maintaining accurate, complete and timely data sets while taking into account the business unit s global interests and needs internally externally.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct research and collect data specific to the retail sector/retail data products that are part of our data vertical (store closures/openings, mall openings/remodels, management changes, MA, retail IPOs, bankruptcy, etc). Present data as outlined by the data team manager in excel spreadsheet templates/PowerPoint decks, etc. Complete data extraction/collection within deadlines Clean-up/rewrite data collected to present only the required information (rewrite data collected from CIQ in as per template/guidelines) Check and update existing data when new information is available (check for new management changes, MA, key developments, etc). Understand the working of the dataset, be aware of the workflows and have a strong working knowledge of work tools Impeccable attention to detail as the specificity of data points and high volume of data being collected requires collectors to be meticulous and precise Keep up-to-date in knowledge of content sets and build industry knowledge by understanding industry trends and reporting standards
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor s Degree/Master s Degree (preferably from a computer application background) Excellent in MS Office, especially MS Excel. Proficiency in excel macros and analytics reporting is a plus Knowledge of secondary market research tools Strong writing and oral communication skills Strong finance or accounting knowledge Extremely detail-oriented / self-motivated / strong time management skills Ability to work with team members located in different time zones Open to receive and act on constructive criticism A positive attitude and a commitment to bringing fresh ideas to the team Past experience in database management and data validation/Quality Assurance is a PLUS Knowledge in any language such as SQL, Python, Tableau or R is a PLUS
