******Role Overview:**As the Manager Research & Development (Agronomy) at McCain in Mehsana, you will be responsible for new variety shortlisting, variety evaluation, and agronomic trials for seed and ware potato programs. Your role involves coming up with recommendations to maximize yield while maintaining quality and efficiently transferring information to internal and external stakeholders. You will also experiment with future technologies in farms, cold stores, and commercial farms, and coordinate with global teams. Reporting to the Director - Agriculture, you will work on frequent, timely communication for relevant customers.**Key Responsibilities:**- **Knowledge Transfer:** - Gain a comprehensive understanding of Agribusiness operations and objectives. - Utilize various communication methods to advise and train the regional supplier group. - Assist growers in improving crop yield and quality by developing enhanced Package of Practices. - Support seed grower compliance with sustainability reporting through AgPortal, GMS, and other means.- **Trials:** - Conduct variety evaluation trials for new variety establishment. - Engage with growers and the agriculture community to conduct research. - Provide guidance on achieving optimal plant health and productivity through best practices. - Assist in developing regionalized variety management profiles for testing on a commercial scale. - Conduct sustainability audits and promote practices to enhance sustainability.- **Networking:** - Attend and participate in agricultural education meetings. - Engage in research and collaboration with public research institutions and private companies.- **Collaboration:** - Gather knowledge from various sources to train the contract farming team effectively. - Seek input from the team to understand challenges and design yield improvement trials. - Address potato storage-related issues and comply with local regulations. - Maintain a strong relationship with the operation team involved in processing potatoes.- **Team:** - Skillfully train and engage the team to empower them to manage their responsibilities independently.**Qualifications Required:**- Must have a Master/Ph.D. degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/Applied Science with 8-10 years of experience in variety trials, breeding, or crop production, preferably in potato crop.- Should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in Agriculture R&D, preferably in Potato.- Previous experience in developing POP (Package of Practices) for crops and conducting agronomy trials is essential.- The role requires mobility and extensive traveling during specific seasons or project work.*Apply Now if you are looking to be part of a flourishing and energetic environment!
