Job Description

    Assistant Manager-Machinery & PipingDomnic Lewis has been mandated to hire Assistant Manager-Machinery for Thane locationMust have experience: We are preferring candidates who have experience shipping/Marine ship designRole Overview: We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our team in the dynamic realm of Marine Ship Design, specializing in Machinery and Piping design. This pivotal role involves overseeing project execution, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and fostering team growth and development.Key Responsibilities:
    1. Team Leadership and Project Management:
      • Provide guidance and direction to engineers and draftsmen in daily activities.
      • Strategically plan project tasks and allocate team resources effectively.
      • Conduct training and development initiatives to enhance team competencies.
      • Liaise with various stakeholders including other departments, project managers, clients, and vendors to address technical requirements.
      • Ensure quality assurance and quality control for drawings, calculations, and reports.
    2. System Drawings and Design:
      • Develop and review process flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and line sizing.
      • Perform pressure drop calculations for diverse systems and fluids using Pipe Flow analysis.
      • Prepare comprehensive P&IDs and purchase specifications for equipment.
      • Specify piping materials and valves to meet project specifications.
    3. Process Calculation and Analysis:
      • Size pipes, pumps, and heat exchangers based on project requirements.
      • Conduct heat balance calculations for cooling water systems and steam coils.
      • Perform heat and mass balance analysis to optimize system efficiency.
    4. Control and Automation:
      • Formulate control and automation strategies, including cause and effect matrices.
    5. HVAC Design:
      • Conduct heat load calculations and size ducts and equipment for HVAC systems.
      • Develop detailed diagrams and documentation (D&ID) for HVAC installations.
    6. SOTR and TBE:
      • Prepare and review technical specifications for equipment.
      • Evaluate vendor data and generate technical bid evaluations (TBE).
      • Coordinate with clients and vendors to ensure technical requirements are met.
    7. Reports Review:
      • Review and refine technical manuals such as P&A, FiFi, VECS, and COW manuals.
      • Assist in the preparation of operation manuals for cargo and machinery.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or equivalent from a reputable institution.
    • Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Piping from a recognized institute.
    • 7 to 10 years of experience in Marine ship design with a focus on Machinery and Piping.
    Desired Candidate Profile:
    • Extensive experience in new build design projects, including ORVs, FDDs, Patrol vessels, and Barges.
    • Proven track record in team management and leadership.
    • Sound knowledge of class rules, piping standards, material specifications, and ship piping systems.
